Registered Patent Attorney, Timothy Fitzwilliam began his career as a U.S. Navy Nuclear Engineer specializing in reactor controls and instrumentation. Subsequently, his legal experience was developed as an associate and partner level lawyer in law firms in San Diego and Orange Counties; through which, an expertise was attained analyzing new technology for claims drafting and/or protection utilizing a variety of IP mechanisms, negotiating with Patent Examiners, and presenting arguments to the Administrative Patent Judges with detailed, intricate knowledge of Title 37 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and Hague Industrial Design, as well as patent case law. Further, Mr. Fitzwilliam gained experience in managing, directing, and architecting large patent portfolios containing related families of technology for optimum protection, claim scope and patent term.
Additionally, expertise and knowledge of brand exclusivity and protection has been developed through prosecuting a multitude of applications for Trademark Registration, including Trade Dress protection and foreign matters.
Mr. Fitzwilliam is licensed to practice law in California (2001) and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (1999), receiving his Juris Doctorate from George Mason University (now Antonin Scalia Law School) in 2000 and previously his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, AL in 1991.
